6th Annual Production of
Back from the Dead Cemetery Walk
This October, join St. John’s Drama for a different kind of ghost walk. The Back from the Dead Cemetery Walk is a guided tour where saints and martyrs come to life and share their stories of faith, hope, and charity, and reflect upon the “Last Things”: death, judgment, heaven, and hell. During the walk, you may discover what it means to be truly alive, both now and in the life to come. Join us, “the Dead would like to have some words with you…”
Evening performances will be held on the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church property beginning in the Padre Pio Hall parking lot at 131 W. Main Street, Front Royal, VA 22630.
Tours will begin every 15 minutes from
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Thursday, October 28th,
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Friday, October 30th, and
6:30 pm – 9:30 pm on Sunday, November 1st.
All tours are free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted.
Refreshments will be available for purchase while you wait.
St. John’s Drama Celebrates America’s 250th Birthday with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: The Broadway Musical!
St. John’s Drama is excited to announce its upcoming production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: The Broadway Musical! This lively production brings Mark Twain’s beloved classic to life with incredible music and high energy. Even better, the show lines up with two huge milestones: the USA’s 250th birthday and the 150th anniversary of a classic piece of American literature originally published in 1876. It’s the perfect way to celebrate a piece of American history!
Set in 1840s Missouri, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer tells the tale of 14-year-old Tom Sawyer and the never-ending mischief of which he so often finds himself a part—from the infamous whitewashing of Aunt Polly’s fence and his friendship with Huckleberry Finn to his attempts to win the attention of Becky Thatcher and an exciting adventure inside a cave.
The musical features a score by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Don Schlitz (famous for country music classics like “The Gambler” and “Forever and Ever, Amen”) and a book by acclaimed playwright Ken Ludwig. Together, Schlitz and Ludwig transform Twain’s classic story into an entertaining, toe-tapping musical adventure that brings the characters and spirit of 19th-century America to life for audiences of all ages.
