In addition to staging theatrical productions, it is part of the Drama Club's mission to give teens an opportunity to meet on a regular basis to socialize, learn theatre arts, appreciate good drama, and enjoy various dramatic presentations together. We work to meet this goal in a variety of ways.
Monthly Workshops
Once a month we all get together for an evening of fun, education, socializing and dessert! It is also an opportunity to hear from the Club teen member of the Board of Directors.
Events have included guest speakers, music and dance exercises, costume and set design instruction, movement, acting, stage combat, and everyone’s favorite, improv. The event is either a Friday or Saturday night and a great atmosphere. New comers and guests are made welcome. If you have never attended, then come join us. If you have, send in your testimonial and we’ll add it to the site.
Fieldtrips
Over the years we have attended other productions by other theatre groups such as the American Shakespeare Center, Sight and Sound Theatre, Fauquier Community Theatre, Christendom College, Warren County and Skyline HS, and the Arlington Diocese One Act Festival. Our teens love a good field trip and we are always looking for great field trip ideas. Got one? Send it in!
Fundraising Events
One of the great strengths of the St. John’s Drama Club is our commitment to work hard for what we have. Our club is not funded by the parish, or by the parents, but by the teens and the events we produce. Tickets and advertising make up a considerable part of our funding, but it doesn’t cover all expenses. Over the years the club has held different events to raise additional money including car washes, bake sales, and selling Christmas greens. We are also open to new ideas and are committed to the idea that Club members need to pay their own way.
